Manchester-based Zendor, the UK’s leading fulfilment and e-business expert, has been appointed to develop the transactional website,www.ExpressShopping.tv, to support the new Express Shopping Channel. The site will go live in conjunction with the TV channel’s launch in August 2004.
The new digital TV channel is a joint venture between Northern & Shell Network Ltd (which owns the Express group of newspapers) and N Brown plc, the UK’s leading direct home shopping business and Zendor’s parent company. The channel will offer lifestyle and entertainment programming, including travel, gardening and DIY and will retail a wide range of merchandising, available interactively on the channel, by phone and via the website.
The design of the site will reflect the identity of the new channel, which aims to provide shopping and entertainment, all rolled into one. The site will be designed with usability as a priority, providing an easy and convenient channel for customers to buy products online that they have seen on TV.
Customers will be able to browse and buy online, manage their own accounts, obtain TV schedules and have a multi-level search facility so they can get to the products they want quickly.
The website will also be integrated with the TV programming with timed banners reflecting the TV schedule. If viewers visit the website during a broadcast, they will be able to automatically link direct to the product range through the respective banner.
Whilst operating alongside existing home shopping channels, Express Shopping will offer a greater variety of products matched by programming that combines shopping and entertainment. The new website is being designed by Zendor’s team to reflect these values. Zendor is providing both creative design and web development for the new project.
