Woolworths, the UK general merchandise retailer, has appointed Zendor GSI Commerce, the e-commerce fulfilment specialist, to support sales through its multi-channel retail business. Manchester-based Zendor GSI Commerce will fulfil nationwide orders taken for three key product groups; Pre-School, Kitchen and Living. Woolworths’ customers can order through the website http://www.woolworths.co.uk, the catalogue ‘Big Red Book’, and in-store via interactive kiosks. Zendor GSI Commerce will provide fulfilment provisions to support all these channels as well as Woolworths’ order and collect in-store service.

Zendor GSI Commerce will act as ‘Junior Fulfilment Partner’, linking seamlessly with Woolworths’ existing fulfilment operations. The retailer will be housed at Zendor GSI Commerce’s warehouse in Rochdale, North Manchester and services from goods in through to home delivery for a range of products, including toys, kitchen utensils, bathroom accessories and home furnishings, will be supplied. All orders will be received via an integrated fulfilment system and despatched to meet Woolworths’ delivery promise.

The companies partnered in 2004 to launch the extension of the Woolworths online offer and have worked together ever since to grow the multi-channel business. The new arrangements will achieve even more efficiencies in the Woolworths distribution network.

Andy Coveney, Woolworths’ Supply Chain Manager for MCR and Mainchain, “Woolworths and Zendor GSI Commerce have a proven track record and it made sense to work with Zendor on the new developments in the network. Zendor GSI Commerce are a ‘safe pair of hands’ and we trust them implicitly to support future growth in our business.”
